Local police officer arrested for assault in off-duty incident
GUELPH — A member of the Waterloo Regional Police Service has been charged with one count of assault.
The officer — who has been with the force for 19 years — was arrested by the Guelph Police Service and charged on Friday.
The incident occurred while the officer was off-duty.
Further details — including the name of the officer — will not be released as they may identify the victim, police said in a release.
The officer is scheduled for an appearance in Kitchener’s Ontario Court of Justice on July 8.
