A little Halloween fun isn’t going to hurt anyone

Re: Halloween celebrations discouraged at public schools — Oct. 16

Wow. Not only have kids struggled with the effects of COVID-19, but now the school board is suggesting they can’t even have some enjoyment and dress up due to inclusion. Inclusion has its place, of course, but this is over the top.

During my decades as a teacher, I saw plenty of excited children come to school in costumes and many of them came from families who did not celebrate Halloween.

Pretending, imagining, dressing up; they’re all part of childhood. Are you going to now deny this? And if it disrupts one day of school? How is this going to adversely affect their learning? A little respite, a little enjoyment: It isn’t going to harm anyone. Annabelle Archibald Kitchener
