Four more local COVID-19 deaths reported

WATERLOO REGION Four COVID-19 deaths were reported in Waterloo Region on Wednesday.

The total number of COVID-related deaths listed on the regional dashboard was 328, although that is five fewer than what the provincial government is reporting.

The four deaths were two men, one in his 50s and one in his 80s, and two women, one in her 80s and one in her 90s.

Another 359 cases of COVID-19 were added to the region’s total, making it 35,790.

Casess of the Omicron variant reached 371.

Active cases of the virus dropped by 250 to 3,843.

Hospitalizations went down by five to 131, and 21 people currently require intensive care.

Local outbreaks of the coronavirus remained steady at 76.

A total of 1,212,498 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given to regional residents: 87.51 per cent of residents five and older have received at least one dose, and 81.68 per cent are fully vaccinated.
