CAMBRIDGE An online fundraising campaign has been set up to provide financial support for the mother of the boy who died last weekend.

The gofundme fundraiser was launched on Thursday to support Kathryn Hesselink, identified in the campaign as the mother of the boy. As of late Friday morning, the page has already raised more than $3,600 from 35 donations.

Organized by Karen Hyckenberg of Guelph, the campaign description says many people have been reaching out about how to support Kate, the mother.

“Please donate so she can focus on grieving the love of her life and supporting her health,” the description reads.

Waterloo Regional Police are still searching for Curtis Hesselink in connection to the ongoing investigation into the death of the eightyear-old boy, whose body was found in a Cambridge home on Saturday.

Earlier this week, police said they were concerned for the 41-yearold’s well-being.

“We do believe Mr. Hesselink has information that can assist in the investigation,” Const. Andre Johnson told The Record Wednesday.

Police said Hesselink and the boy are known to each other but would not describe the nature of their relationship.

An autopsy on the child did not pinpoint a cause of death, Johnson said. Police are now waiting for toxicology results.
