A plea to NDP voters to back Liberal candidates
Victor Hiebert Waterloo
When Bill Davis was Ontario’s premier, I was a Progressive Conservative. When Mike Harris became premier, I switched my support to the Liberals. Now, I don’t think we can afford another term with Ford.
Watching the leaders’ debate on May 16, my assessment was that Mike Schreiner of the Green Party and Steven Del Duca of the Liberal party were the front-runners. If the left-leaning parties want to prevent a Ford win, they will have to vote strategically.
As Geoffrey Stevens said in his column: “If a relatively small proportion of erstwhile New Democratic Party voters are prepared to hold their noses long enough to vote Liberal on June 2, Doug Ford will be ousted as premier of Ontario.”
May I suggest to NDP voters that unless it’s absolutely certain that their candidate will win that seat, as it is in Waterloo riding with incumbent Catherine Fife, they should hold their noses and vote Liberal.
