Geo-engineering will buy us time

Re: GEO-engineering climate solutions come with great risk — Aug. 9

This insightful article cautions against various forms of the planetcooling technique. We know geoengineering does not solve climate change, but what it does do is buy time to come up with solutions and to implement them.

We have, in the past, experienced volcanic eruptions that effectively have used the same mechanism and the repercussions have been relatively mild.

However, as the author says, “desperate times bring (or require) desperate measures.” This is one that really has to be considered and implemented, and quickly.

The problem is that, if not widely understood, it can lead to complacency and lack of action.
