We need innovation and change in the health-care system
For as long as I can remember, governments have struggled to provide enough money to the health-care system to provide the level of service that we expect. Yet the system remains broken.
Not only are wait times often too long, but with the current singleprovider system, users have no option but to wait.
Instead of simply throwing more money at the system, it is time to try some new approaches.
The introduction of single-service private providers will hopefully shorten wait times, relieve some of the pressure on hospitals, give users a little more choice and bring some private-sector innovation to the health-care system.
If this approach works on a limited basis, then it can be expanded. If it does not work, then no expansion is required. We live in a world of innovation and change. Time for the health care system to join in.
